Idea of ‘Nuclear War’ Spinning In Western Politicians’ Heads: Russia

Mumbai: Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has accused West of considering ‘nuclear war’ amid Ukraine invasion, reports news agency AFP.

“I would like to point out that it is in the heads of Western politicians that the idea of a nuclear war is spinning constantly, and not in the heads of Russians,” Lavrov declared.

“I assure you that we will not allow any provocations to throw us off balance,” he added.

Moscow has the world’s largest arsenal of nuclear weapons and a plethora of ballistic missiles that form the backbone of the country’s resistance forces.

Russia also cannot tolerate what it said was a military threat from Ukraine, he said, adding that he was convinced Russia was right on Ukraine.

Rejecting speculation that Moscow felt politically isolated, Lavrov said Ukraine’s question of life should be defined by its people.

The Ukrainian government has accused the Russian military of targeting civilians in a war that has now entered its eighth day.

The Russian foreign minister has said that troops have been given strict orders to use high-precision weapons to destroy military infrastructure.

On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered Russia’s nuclear forces on high alert, accusing the West of taking “unfriendly” measures against his country.
