If World War 3 Takes Place, It Will Involve Nuclear Weapons: Russia

Mumbai: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that if World War 3 were to take place, it would involve nuclear weapons and be destructive.

Lavrov has said Russia, which launched a special military operation against Ukraine last week, faces a “real threat” if Kyiv acquires nuclear weapons.

A week after launching its invasion of Ukraine, Russia said its forces had captured the major city earlier on Wednesday, recapturing Kherson in the south, as fighting raged around the country and Western nations tightened an economic noose around Russia.

More than half a million Ukrainians have fled fighting since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a full-scale invasion of their southern neighbour nearly a week ago.

Russian bombing continues in Ukraine’s cities, with videos posted on social media showing heavily damaged buildings around the second city of Kharkiv.

In a video address on Wednesday, Zelensky said about 6,000 Russians were killed in the first six days of Moscow’s invasion, and that the Kremlin would not be able to take his country from bombs and airstrikes.

Biden further intensified sanctions on Moscow, joining the European Union and Canada in banning Russian aircraft from US airspace.

He also said the Justice Department would seek to seize the yachts, luxury apartments and private jets of wealthy Russians with ties to Putin.
