In His First Decision After Taking Oath, PM Modi Approves Major Changes In ‘Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme’

Mumbai: In his first verdict, after making an oath to the government for another term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who made national security an important issue in the elections, on Friday approved a major change under the ‘Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme National Defense Fund.

Scholarship rates have been increased by Rs. Rs 2000 per month Rs.2500 per month for boys and Rs. 2250 per month from Rs. 3000 per month for girls.

National Defense Fund (NDF) was established in 1962, which was done to cash in on the kind of voluntary donation and to decide on their use to promote national defense efforts.

The scope of the scholarship scheme has been extended to the wards of the officers of the State Police who have been martyred during terror or Naxal attacks. The quota of a new scholarship for the wards of state police officers will be 500 in a year.

“Our government’s first decision dedicated to those who protect India! Major changes approved in PM’s Scholarship Scheme under the National Defence Fund including enhanced scholarships forwards of police personnel martyred in terror or Maoist attacks,” Modi said in a tweet later.

During the close elections to the high-altitude shoes of the Pulwama terror attack and Balakot air attacks, Modi repeatedly raised the issue of national security, which said that under them only a strong government can deal with the security challenges of the country.
