Centre Rushes High-level Teams To 10 States/UT Witnessing Surge In COVID Infections

Mumbai: India has reported 53,480 new COVID-19 cases and 354 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.

With these additional cases, the total number of infections in the country has reached 1,21,49,335.

In addition, 41,280 people were discharged on Tuesday, which is 1,14,34,301 from the nationwide recovery tally. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 10,22,915 samples were tested on Tuesday. A total of 24,36,72,940 samples have been tested so far.

India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
