India Sees Its Biggest Ever One-Day Jump In COVID-19 Cases As 1.45 Lakh Test +ve

Mumbai: India on Friday recorded the highest-ever one-day rise in the number of COVID-19 cases for any country for the second day in a row as 4,14,188 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, the cumulative count of cases in the country reached 2,14,91,598, informed Union Health Ministry.

In addition, there were 3,31,507 recoveries in the last 24 hours in the country, with a total recovery of 1,76,12,351. There were 3,915 new COVID-related deaths in the country, bringing the total death toll in the country to 2,34,083.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that till May 6, a total of 29,86,01,699 samples have been tested, of which 18,26,490 were tested on Thursday.

As many as 16,49,73,058 vaccination doses have been administered in the country up to May 6 in what is billed as the largest COVID-19 inoculation drive in the world.
