India Rejects Report Claiming Of Having Agreed To Hold Talks With Pakistan

Mumbai: India rejected the claim of Islamabad’s claim to negotiate and made it clear that New Delhi wants normal and cooperative relations with all neighbours including Pakistan.

According to the ministry spokesman, “According to established diplomatic practice, PM and EAM have responded to the congratulatory messages received from their counterparts in Pakistan, in their messages, they have said that India wants normal and cooperative relations with all neighbours. ” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ravish Kumar said.

The Pakistani media citing diplomatic sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed the desire to interact with neighbouring countries in response to congratulatory messages.

Kumar said that in response to congratulatory messages from Islamabad, Modi and Jaishankar had highlighted that India wants normal and cooperative relations with all neighbours including Pakistan.

The spokesman said that the message of PM Modi emphasized the importance of “the atmosphere of faith, free from terror, violence and hostility”, while the EAM emphasized the need for “an atmosphere free from the shadow of terror and violence”.

After the Pulwama terror attack, the relations between India and Pakistan have worsened, where India lost more than 40 CRPF jawans. Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) took responsibility for the attack, which saw the entire world community throwing its weight behind India in its fight against terrorism.
