Parliament Session: Triple Talaq And Nikah Halala To Be Abolished, President Ramnath Kovind
Mumbai: While addressing the joint session of the Parliament President Ramnath Kovind said that there is a need to keep away from the practices of immediate triple talaq and nikah halala.
He said, to ensure equal rights to every sister and daughter in the country, it is necessary to immediately eliminate bad practices like Triple Talak and Nikah Halala. I urge all the members to contribute to the honourable and better life of our sisters and daughters.
The BJP is calling for Muslim women as repressive practices, urging immediate passage of a law against Triple Talak and Nikah Halala. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has talked about it in many of his public rallies.

In his election manifesto, BJP promised to bring a law to end these practices.
Immediate triple talak is an ancient practice among Muslims, under which a Muslim man divorces his wife three times in a row and divorces it. Many scholars of Islam have seen this form of divorce unilateral.
On the other hand, Nikah Halala is an Islamic dictatorship, in which a divorced woman needs to marry another man before going back to her first husband. Such reports have said that this practice has been misused for the loss of Muslim women.
