India Reports 37,379 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours, Highest In 117 Days

Mumbai: India has reported 37,379 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest since September 9, 2021. The country also reported 124 deaths, taking the death toll to 4,82,017.

The health ministry said active cases comprised 0.49 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.13 per cent.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 26,248 cases in a span of 24 hours.

According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.24 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.05 per cent.

The number of people cured of the disease rose to 3,43,06,414, while the death rate was recorded at 1.38 per cent.

The cumulative dose administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign has exceeded 146.70 crores.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.
