India Reports 53,256 New COVID-19 Cases, Lowest In 88 Days; 1,422 Deaths

Mumbai: India has reported 53,256 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest rise in the number of daily cases in the last 88 days. With this, the number of active cases in the country is 7,02,887 and the total number of cases is less than 3 lakh, 2,99,35,221.

With 1,422 deaths, the total death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 3,88,135. This is the fourth consecutive day in the last two months that the death toll is below 2,000.

According to the Union Health Ministry, 78,190 people were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 infected people discharged from the hospital to 2,88,44,199.

As far as the progress of vaccination is concerned, 28,00,36,898 doses have been administered in the country, out of which 30,39,996 were tested in the last 24 hours. Starting today, all citizens above the age of 18 can get their vaccination free of charge at government facilities.
