India Reports 6,148 New COVID-19 Deaths As Bihar Revises Data; Less Than 1L Cases Again

Mumbai: India has reported 6,148 new COVID-19 deaths as the Bihar government revised its death toll, adding 3,951 backlog fatalities to its total. India had reported its highest single-day toll (4,529) on May 19.

The country logged 94,052 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the infection tally to 2,91,83,121.

In its latest release, the Union Health Ministry said that the number of active cases has come down to 11,67,952.

Daily COVID cases remained below one lakh for the third day in a row.

According to health ministry data, the COVID death toll in India reached 3,59,676 with 6,148 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

With 1,51,367 more patients recovering from the disease, the total number of cured people across the country rose to 2,76,55,493. The recovery rate increased to 94.77 per cent.

The weekly positivity rate currently stands at 5.43 per cent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.69 per cent, which was less than 10% for 17 consecutive days.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 20,04,690 tests were conducted on June 9, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 37,21,98,253.
