India Reports 84,332 New COVID-19 Cases In Lowest Single-Day Rise In 70 Days

Mumbai: As many as 84,332 new COVID-19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, marking the lowest single-day rise in 70 days.

With this, the COVID19 cumulative tally rose to 2,93,59,155. According to the Union Health Ministry data updated at 8 am, the death toll from COVID-19 rose to 3,67,081 with 4,002 new fatalities.

The number of active cases came down to 10,80,690, which is 3.68 per cent of the total infections, while the number of recoveries rose to 2,73,41,462 with 1,21,311 discharges.

India’s active caseload dropped to less than 11 lakh after 63 days, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 95.07 per cent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.39 per cent. While it is less than 10 per cent for 19 consecutive days, the weekly positivity rate has also come down to 4.94 per cent, the ministry said.

For the 30th day in a row, the number of people recovering from new cases is increasing continuously, while the death rate has increased to 1.25 per cent. The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 24 crores, the ministry said in its data.
