India Reports 9,216 New COVID-19 Cases, 391 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

Mumbai: According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare India registered 9,216 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, while the active cases increased to 99,976.

The death toll rose to 4,70,115 with 391 fresh deaths, including 320 from Kerala, as per the data updated at 8 am.

The Kerala state government said in a release that out of 320 deaths in Kerala, 66 were registered as COVID-19 deaths in the last few days and 254 after receiving an appeal based on the new guidelines of the Center and directions of the Supreme Court.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been less than 50,000 for 159 consecutive days, the ministry said.

The ministry said active cases comprise 0.29 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.35 per cent.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 213 cases in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.80 per cent. It is less than two per cent in the last 60 days. The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 0.84 per cent. According to the ministry, it is less than one per cent for the last 19 days.

The number of people cured of the disease rose to 3,40,45,666, while the death rate was recorded at 1.36 per cent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 125.75 crores.
