India Reports Over 2 Lakh COVID-19 Cases For 3 Days In A Row

Mumbai: As many as 2,34,692 coronavirus cases were confirmed in India in the last 24 hours, marking the biggest one-day jump so far. The country has now reported over 2 lakh cases for three days in a row.

Meanwhile, 1,341 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,75,649.

With this, the total number of cases has increased to 1,45,26,609. The active number of cases is 16,79,740. In the last 24 hours, 1,23,354 people recovered from the disease. With this, the total recovery reached 1,26,71,220.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 14,95,397 samples were tested on Friday. And, as of 16 April, 26,49,72,022 samples have been tested across the country.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country to date is 11,99,37,641.

India started the vaccination campaign on 16 January with priority to all healthcare and border workers in the first phase. The second phase commenced on 1 March where doses were given to people above 60 years of age and between 45 and 59 years with specific comorbidities.
