India Reports Rise In COVID-19 Cases For 2nd Straight Day As 54,069 Test Positive

Mumbai: According to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Thursday, India has reported 54,069 new COVID-19 cases and 1,321 deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the second straight day when the country witnessed a rise in the number of daily cases.

With this country’s total caseload reached 3,00,82,778. India crossed the mark of over three crore caseload of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 3,00,82,778. India has become the second country after the US to register over 30 million cases of COVID-19. India added one crore cases in the last 50 days.

This is also the 17th consecutive day when less than one lakh new cases have been reported in India. 47,262 cases were reported in India on 23 March while 42,640 cases were registered in India on 22 June.

The active cases have now come down to below 8 lakh. The country currently has 6,27,057 active cases and 3,91,981 deaths so far.

According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 68,885 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 2,90,63,740 people discharged so far.

The Health Ministry said that a total of 30,16,26,028 people have been vaccinated in the country so far, out of which 64,89,599 people have been vaccinated in the last 24 hours.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 39,78,32,667 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till June 23. Of these, 18,59,469 samples were tested on Wednesday.
