India Sees 5,784 New COVID-19 Cases, Lowest Since May 2020

Mumbai: India has reported 5,784 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest rise in daily cases in the last 571 days (since May 2020). The country also reported 252 deaths which took the death toll to 4,75,888.

With the fresh cases, India’s total tally of Covid cases climbed to 3,47,03,644.

For the last 47 days, the number of fresh cases of corona virus infection has been recorded below 15,000.

The number of active coronavirus cases in the country has come down to 88,993, which is 0.26 per cent of the total caseload and the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.37 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

The active COVID-19 caseload registered a decline of 2,463 cases in a 24-hour period.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.58 per cent. For the last 71 days, it is less than two per cent. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.68 per cent. According to the Ministry of Health, it has been below one percent for the last 30 days.

The number of patients who have recovered from the infection has gone up to 3,41,38,763, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.37 per cent.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered so far in the country has exceeded 133.88 crores.
