India To Resume Regular International Flights From March 27 After 2 Years

Mumbai: The Centre has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger flights to and from India from March 27 after two years.

Commercial international flight operations to and from India will strictly follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

“The Government has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India with effect from 27.03.2022. The civil aviation ministry on Tuesday said international travel would be subject to strict adherence to the health ministry’s guidelines for international travel.

The ministry’s statement said that the government has decided to lift the ban on international civil aviation after considering the vaccine levels across the world and in consultation with various stakeholders.

It further said that in the light of the announcement, the travel restrictions have been extended only till 2359 hrs IST on 26.03. The travel ban was first announced by the government on March 23, 2020, and has since been extended several times.

“To contain the spread of COVID-19, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) vide circular dated 19.03.2020 has suspended the operation of scheduled international commercial passenger services to/from India with effect from 23 March 2020. In terms of DGCA Circular 28.02.2022, the suspension of scheduled international commercial passenger services to/from India is extended till further orders,” the ministry said.

In the aftermath of the pandemic, India signed air bubble agreements with several countries to allow bilateral movement of passengers. According to the ministry’s latest notification, these arrangements will not be extended beyond the March 27 deadline.
