India To Send 4 Ministers To Ukraine’s Neighbouring Countries For Evacuation Of Indians

Mumbai: Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and Gen (Retd) VK Singh will be sent to neighbouring countries of Ukraine as Special Envoys of India.

They will personally oversee the evacuation of Indians at the border areas.

“Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and Gen (Retd) VK Singh will travel to neighbouring countries of Ukraine to coordinate the evacuation mission and help students,” Government sources said.

These ministers are going as special envoys of India. The second high-level meeting in the last 24 hours on the current situation in Ukraine, especially with the evacuation of Indian nationals, is being chaired by PM Modi.

On his return from Uttar Pradesh on Sunday evening, the Prime Minister held a two-hour-long meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba and several senior bureaucrats on the current situation in Ukraine.

In the meeting, PM Modi once again reiterated that ensuring the safety and evacuation of Indian students is the country’s top priority. Discussions were also held on increasing cooperation with neighbouring countries of Ukraine to expedite the evacuation of stranded Indians.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government has launched Operation Ganga to bring back stranded students and Indian citizens from conflict-torn Ukraine.

Special flights are being operated by Air India under “Operation Ganga”. Meanwhile, the fifth flight carrying 249 Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine landed in New Delhi this morning.
