Mumbai: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that India is determined to defend “sovereignty and territorial integrity” as opposed to “unilateralism and aggression”.
His statement comes following the border standoff with China in eastern Ladakh entering the seventh month.
The defence minister also said that India values peaceful resolution of differences through dialogue and is committed to respecting various agreements made for the maintenance of peace on the borders.
In a virtual seminar organized by the National Defense College, he said, “However, India is determined to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of unilateralism and aggression.”
Singh said that India is a peace-loving country and believes that differences should not become a dispute.
The deadlock between India and China began on 6 May and this has caused considerable tension in their relations. The two sides held a series of diplomatic and military talks to resolve the row. However, there has been no breakthrough in ending the deadlock.
