Indore’s COVID-19 Death Toll Rises To 53

Mumbai: A Health Department official said on Thursday that the coronavirus claimed another life in Indore, taking the death toll to 53 in Madhya Pradesh’s worst city PTI reported.

In the last 24 hours, 26 new COVID-19 patients were found in Indore, taking the number of affected persons to 945 in the city, the official said. 77 of them were discharged after treatment.

“A 56-year-old man infected with coronavirus died on Tuesday in a government-run Manorama Raje TB (MRTB) hospital. With this, the number of people suffering from COVID-19 infection has increased,” PTI quoted Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Praveen Jadia saying.

As of Thursday, the city’s COVID-19 death rate is 5.61 percent higher than the national average, as of Thursday.

Jadia said the city has conducted a survey of about 2,000 teams, with a population of over 3 million.

He claimed that the 14 lakh population has been surveyed so far and the pace of the survey has been increased in urban areas. It is targeted to be completed within a week.

Curfew has been imposed in the city since March 25, after the first case of coronavirus infection came to light.

Strict lockdown is in place at other places in the district.
