Invisible Division Of Hindus And Muslims, Shiv Sena Slams Modi Govt Ahead Of Tabling CAB In Parliament

Mumbai: Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is all set to table in Parliament by Modi led government BJP, on the other side the Shiv Sena, on Monday, launched a sharp attack at its recently-estranged ally, accusing it of apparently doing an “invisible partition” of Hindus and Muslims.

The Shiv Sena, which recently broke its 30-year-old alliance with the BJP and joined hands with rivals NCP and Congress to form the government in Maharashtra, also questioned whether the Hindu selective trigger of “selective acceptance” of illegal migrants Religious warfare will work in the country.

In his editorial mouthpiece Saamana, the former BJP ally questioned the timing of the bill and said that “vote bank politics” is not in the interest of the country under the guise of the bill.

The editorial reads, “There is no shortage of problems in India now but still we are inviting new people such as cabs. This is an invisible division of Hindus and Muslims over the bill.”

The Union Cabinet last week approved a bill that seeks to amend the Citizenship Act 1955 to grant Indian citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Parsis, Buddhists, Jains from three neighbouring countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The bill aims to provide nationality to non-Muslim refugees who left India before 31 December 2014 due to religious persecution leaving their respective countries.
