‘Is Army Chief A BJP leader?’: Congress Slammed Chief Bipin Rawat On CAA

Mumbai: Indian National Congress condemned the comment of Army Chief Bipin Rawat on the anti-CAA protests leadership as ‘highly objectionable, unethical and beyond his remit.’

Army Chief made a remark on the anti-CAA protests going all over the country. He mentioned that the person leading the protest shouldn’t go in wrong direction, violence in a protest is not the right direction.

“Leaders are not those who lead people in inappropriate directions, as we are witnessing in a large number of university and college students, the way they are leading masses of crowds to carry out arson and violence in our cities and towns. This is not leadership,” the Army Chief said while addressing a health summit.

Congress alleged on the Chief that he appears to be a Bharatiya Janata Party leader by the way he commented on CAA protests. Senior leader Digvijay Singh tweeted, “I agree General Saheb but also leaders are not those who allow their followers to indulge in Genocide of Communal Violence. Do you agree with me, General Saheb?”

The army chief is about to retire by 31st December, as the congress also alleged that chief is rooting for the post of Chief of Defense Staff. The government recently announced the creation of CDS and is likely to announce the first CDS in a week or two.

Before Congress, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi also said that the army chief is undermining Modi government by making such comments.
