In an editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana, the party led by Uddhav Thackeray alleged that the people of Jharkhand refused to ‘fall prey to the BJP’.

“Despite the huge amount of work done by the BJP leadership, Maharashtra saw a change. Jharkhand too made a change without any fear. BJP is losing state after state. Now Jharkhand is gone too. But they do not have the mentality for introspection. This is what happens when you take people for granted,” the editorial said.

In the assembly elections held on Monday, the Congress-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) -Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alliance secured 47 seats, reducing the BJP to 25 seats. With a clear mandate in the 81-seater assembly, the Congress + alliance is set to form the government in the state, with JMM working president Hemant Soren as the chief minister. The victory excluded Raghubar Das, who became the first CM to serve a full term in the state.
