J’khand Man Gives Triple Talaq To Wife For Bearing 3 Girls; Booked
Mumbai: A case has been registered against a man from Jharkhand’s Dumka for allegedly giving triple talaq to his wife for bearing three girls, a police official said on Friday.
In the complaint given to the police, a 28-year-old woman resident of village Bichiya hill has also accused her husband of mentally and physically harassing her.
The officer said the police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC and the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, which bans the practice of instant triple talaq.
Its complaint was lodged at Shikaripada police station on Thursday.
The woman, who got married in 2011, alleged that her husband started harassing her after giving birth to three girls.
The matter is being investigated, the official said.
