KL Rahul Reprimanded For 3rd Time In IPL 2022, Fined ₹24-Lakh For Slow Over-Rate

Mumbai: LSG captain KL Rahul has been reprimanded for the third time in IPL 2022. He has been fined ₹24 lakh after his team maintained a slow over-rate against MI on Sunday.

At the same time, the other members of the LSG playing XI have been fined INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of the match fee, whichever is lower. Also Read: The Season Hasn’t Gone The Way We Wanted It To: Rohit After 8th Defeat

It should be noted that if Rahul commits another slow over-rate offence this season, he will be handed a one-match ban. In such a situation, a fine of Rs 30 lakh will also be imposed on him.

Apart from Rahul, MI captain Rohit Sharma is the only captain to have committed this offence twice. Hence, both are in serious need of keeping an eye on the clock in their upcoming assignments.

“The Lucknow Super Giants have been fined after they maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 24,” a statement read released by the IPL.

“This was the team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over-rate offences. Lucknow Super Giants captain, KL Rahul was fined Rs 24 lakhs and the rest of the members in the playing eleven were fined Rs 6 lakhs or 25 per cent of their match fee, whichever is lower,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, LSG will be quite happy with the outcome of the competition as they thrashed the five-time champions by 36 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Batting first, skipper Rahul scored his second century of the season, helping his team post 168/6 in the allotted 20 overs.

In response, the Men in Blue and Gold never really paid attention to the hunt and were banned for 132/8. Since this was Mumbai’s eighth consecutive defeat, they have all been knocked out of the race for the playoffs.
