K’taka Imposes Weekend Curfew; Allows Pubs, Halls To Operate At 50% Capacity

Mumbai: Amid COVID-19 surge, Karnataka government on Tuesday imposed a weekend curfew from Friday 10 pm-Monday 5 am and said night curfew will continue.

Cinema halls, pubs, restaurants can operate with 50% capacity and fully-vaccinated people will be allowed. Malls can function usually during weekdays.

Night curfew will continue from 10 pm to 5 am across the state for the next two weeks. During this, all the offices will work 5 days a week from Monday to Friday.

The Government Secretariat will run on 50 percent of the total workforce, with no officers below the rank of Under Secretary.

Public transport organizations including Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) will work as per the directions of the Chief Executive to meet the needs of the people for emergency purposes during the weekend curfew.

In Bengaluru urban district, all schools and colleges, except for medical and para-medical, except for classes X, XI, and XII, will remain closed from January 6.

Pubs, clubs, restaurants, bars, hotels, eating places in hotels, etc with 50 per cent seating capacity will strictly follow the COVID Appropriate Practices. Only vaccinated persons will be allowed to enter the premises.

Cinema halls, multiplexes, theatres, theatres, auditoriums, and other similar places are strictly operated with a 50 per cent seating capacity. Entry to such places has been restricted to fully vaccinated persons.

It is allowed to hold marriage ceremonies involving more than 200 people in open spaces and more than 100 people in closed spaces.

Religious places are allowed to open only for darshan. No service, etc. is allowed. The entry of people will be restricted to 50 persons who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at any point in time.

Malls, shopping complexes, all stand-alone shops, and establishments will function as usual on weekdays.

Swimming pools and gyms are allowed to operate at 50 per cent, but entry will be restricted to fully vaccinated individuals.

Sports complexes and stadiums are allowed to operate with 50 per cent capacity.

All rallies, dharnas, demonstrations are prohibited.

There shall be intensive surveillance at the borders of Kerala, Goa, and Maharashtra as per the prevailing circular/guidelines issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. Of Karnataka.

Karnataka on January 4 registered 2,479 fresh coronavirus infections and four deaths, taking the COVID caseload and fatalities to 30,13,326 and 38,355 respectively.
