K’taka Makes -ve COVID Test Report Mandatory For Punjab, Chandigarh People

Mumbai: The Karnataka government has made negative COVID-19 test reports mandatory for people arriving in the state from Punjab and Chandigarh amid the rising cases. This is in addition to the mandatory COVID-19 negative reports for travellers arriving from Maharashtra and Kerala.

This has come at a time when the Health Minister of Karnataka, Dr. K. Sudhakar said that the second wave of COVID-19 has started and sought cooperation to stop the virus.

“We are at the beginning of the second wave of coronaviruses. Sudhakar told the media that we all join hands to control it because the next three months are important for us He said he would discuss the Covid-19 situation and measures to be taken with Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa.

Meanwhile, according to the state government’s medical bulletin, Covid-19 cases in Punjab were not allowed to register 2,669 fresh infections, the maximum so far this year and 44 more fatal attacks on Sunday.

Sudhakar also said that the state government is strictly examining the passengers of other Maharashtra and other high-caseload states. The minister said that if passengers from these states are not given negative RT-PCR test reports, they will be tested at the border. Increasing penalties for not wearing masks are also being discussed, the minister continued.

Karnataka is also seeking the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs to implement strict screening at the Karnataka borders. However, Sudhakar said that the state government is not currently doing semi-lockdown or lockdown.

Yediyurappa has appealed to the people to exercise caution as Covid-19 cases is on the rise at an alarming rate.
