Maha Drought Relief: Fadnavis Meets PM’s Principal Secretary

Mumbai : In the recent development Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met the Principal Secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sought initial central assistance to deal with drought in the state.

According to the statement of the Chief Minister’s Office it stated that  Fadnavis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Principal Secretary Nripendra Mishra in New Delhi on Friday morning and the state government had proposed Rs 7,962.63 crore for drought relief.

In this monsoon, there was insufficient rains in Maharashtra due to which government recently announced drought in 151 out of 353 talukas in the state.

Moving ahead Chief Minister demanded for six lakh more houses to be allotted to Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (PMAY) whereas state government has given Rs 50,000 for purchase of plots of 500 square feet for the scheme.

Fadnavis requested for the initial final form of draft CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) notification, along with the environment-sensitive areas of the Great Indian Bustard Wildlife Sanctuary of Tungareshwar, Thane and Solapur.

It has been stated in the statement that he also requested for the deployment of e-vehicles in Tiger Safari to promote environmental tourism in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, as it will lead to human-animal conflict and tourism.

Moving ahead many other issues has been discussed which includes requirement of land for railway, redevelopment of Dharavi and many more.

In relation to the railway plot, a committee will be constituted with officers of the Railway Board and officers, officers of Dharavi redevelopment.
