Maha Govt Declares ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ Tax-Free

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Wednesday declared Ajay Devgan-starrer ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ tax-free in the state.

The move comes days after scores of leaders along with former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanding Devgan be tax-free.

The film depicts Ajay Devgan playing the role of the Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare fighting for the ‘saffron’ (saffron) flag and the principles of ‘Swaraj’ (home-rule) and ‘Satya’ (truth).

Kajol, who plays Tanhaji’s wife, Savitribai Malusare, is shown to be a strong character, who supports her in making firm decisions.

Saif Ali Khan, who plays the antagonist, comes out strong as Uday Bhan, a Rajput official, who works for Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

The movie has crashed the box-office as it has garnered around Rs 183 crore as on Wednesday, as per the film critic Taran Adarsh.
