Mumbai: An official said on Wednesday that with the arrival of 368 new cases of coronavirus, the number of infected in the Thane district of Maharashtra has increased to 5,31,943.
He said that these new cases came to the fore on Tuesday.
The virus claimed 18 more lives, taking the death toll in Thane to 10,679, he said, adding that the COVID-19 fatality rate in the district stood at two per cent.
The details of cured and under-treatment patients were not made available by the district administration.
In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 1,16,570, while the death toll has reached 2,563, another official said.
