Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Mumbai 24×7 Plan

Mumbai: In a huge development, the Uddhav Thackeray-led cabinet today approved its plan to open malls and eateries in specific non-residential areas of the city overnight from January 27.

Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray said: “The Mumbai 24×7 proposal has been approved by the cabinet today. From 27 January, 27 malls, multiplexes, shops and eateries will be open 24×7 in non-residential areas like Bandra Kurla Complex and Narela Point. However, we will not impose it on anyone.”

He said, “The MVA government is a people’s government. The BJP government is an anti-youth government.”

Thackeray clarified that pubs and bars are excluded from the purview of the scheme. “I never said anything about pubs and bars,” he said.

“I am not forcing anyone to implement this policy. Whoever wants to comply will do it. This move will increase jobs for people and revenue for the government,” he added.
