Maharashtra CM Reallocates Cabinet Portfolios Of 9 Rebel Ministers

Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Monday handed over Cabinet portfolios of nine rebel MLAs to other lawmakers. The portfolios of the rebel ministers were allotted to other ministers for ease of administration amid the political crisis, according to an official statement.

Urban development department and public works (MSRDC) held by Eknath Shinde given to industries minister Subhash Desai, higher and technical education portfolio of Uday Samant given to environment minister Aaditya Thackeray, water supply and sanitation portfolio held by Gulabrao Patil given to transport minister Anil Parab, agriculture department held by Dada Bhuse and employment guarantee scheme held by Sandipan Bhumare are given to Shankarrao Gadakh who is a Sena supporter independent minister.

Besides the four ministers of state, Shambhuraj Desai, Rajendra Patil, Abdul Sattar and Omprakash Kadu have been given the charge of other ministers.

All nine ministers, including five cabinet ministers and four junior ministers, are with the Shinde camp.

Higher and Technical Education Minister Samant had on Sunday joined the insurgent camp led by Shinde, taking the number of the rebel group to 39.

Samant along with his secretary and Shiv Sena worker reached Guwahati via Surat from Thane.

Uddhav Thackeray’s move comes at a time when the rebel Eknath Shinde camp, in a petition filed before the Supreme Court, said the Maha Vikas Aghadi government has lost the majority after the Shiv Sena legislature party withdrew its support. Two facts are embroiled in a legacy war after the Shinde camp renamed its group ‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb’.

The Shiv Sena called an emergency executive meet wherein the party passed six resolutions including the one declaring that the party belonged to Balasaheb Thackeray and nobody else would be allowed to use his name.
