Maharashtra Health Minister Appeals To Everyone To Get Tested For Covid-19

Mumbai: Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has advised everyone in the state to test for COVID-19 as ICU and oxygen beds are rapidly filling up with people coming to hospitals in poor condition due to lack of timely tests.

“Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 31,643. It is followed by Punjab with 2,868 while Karnataka reported 2,792 new cases,” an official statement noted.

The state continues to report the highest daily new COVID-19 cases. As many as 31,643 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours.

Due to the increasing number of coronovirus cases in the state, the state government has issued an order to supply 80 per cent oxygen for medical use to oxygen producers, while the remaining 20 per cent will be available for other industrial purposes. According to the Maharashtra Health Department, this order will remain in force till June 30.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that the cases are rising because people are not following guidelines seriously. He has warned of taking strict measures like lockdown if the situation is not controlled.

Senior health officials and the COVID task force have been instructed to prepare for restrictions similar to lockdown if rules are violated continuously.
