Maharashtra Police Registers Over 69,000 Cases For Lockdown Violations

Mumbai: A total of 69,374 cases have been registered for lockout violations across the state since March 22.

Maharashtra Police said that from March 22 to date, a total of 69,374 cases have been registered under Section 188 of the IPC, while 477 accused have been arrested in cases of assault on policemen.

The state police further said that 14,955 people have been arrested since March 22, while restrictions were violated during the bandh and a total of 47,168 vehicles were towed during the same period.

Regarding Maharashtra police personnel who tested positive for COVID-19, the state police reported that so far, 96 police personnel have been tested for coronovirus, of which seven have already been recovered.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra has the highest number of COVID-19 cases, numbering 6,817, of which 840 patients have died, while 301 have died due to the deadly virus.
