Delhi Govt Agrees To Implement Centre’s order On Opening Of Shops Following MHA’s Latest Guidelines

Mumbai: The Delhi government agreed to implement the latest guidelines of the MHA, which allow neighbourhood and standalone shops selling non-essential items to operate during the lockdown period, with some restrictions.

According to Delhi government sources, standalone shops and shops will be allowed to open in residential areas, but not in the coronovirus cantonment zone. There are 95 establishment areas in the national capital so far.

“Standalone shops and shops in residential areas to remain open with social-distancing strictly followed and MHA’s norms strictly implemented. No activity will be allowed in the containment zones,” said sources, ANI.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in a late-night order on Friday, issued new guidelines, stating that neighbourhoods and standalone shops located in residential complexes in urban areas could open during the ongoing lockout, but in designated markets, 3 Will remain closed till May.

The Home Ministry in its order also said malls will continue to remain shut, but markets in rural areas can open.

“All shops registered under the Shops and Establishment Act of the respective States / Union Territories, including residential complexes and market complex shops, outside the boundaries of municipal corporations and municipalities, multi-brand and single-brand mall shops Except, being mandatory to wear masks with 50 per cent strength of workers with wearing of masks and social distancing being mandatory,” read the MHA order exempting the above-mentioned shops from lockdown restrictions.
