Maharashtra Reports Its First Death From Delta Plus COVID-19 Variant
Officials confirmed that the deceased was also suffering from other age-related ailments
Mumbai: Maharashtra on Friday reported its first death from the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope said.

According to reports, an 80-year-old man died due to the Delta Plus variant in Ratnagiri’s Sangameshvar area, becoming the first such casualty in the state.
Officials confirmed that the deceased was also suffering from other age-related ailments.
According to the Health Department, 21 cases of Delta Plus variant have been identified in Maharashtra so far. With one death, there are now 20 such cases left in the state and they are being closely monitored by the authorities.
The Central Government earlier this week alerted Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, where the initial cases were found.
The Delta Plus variant of Covid-19 has been found in nine countries — US, UK, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, Poland, Russia, China and India, as per experts.
