Mumbai: A Pocso Act court on Wednesday convicted and sentenced a 35 year-old-man to ten years for repeatedly raping and impregnating his 14-year-old neighbour in 2016. The accused, father of three, is in jail since his arrest.
The minor told the court that on December 2016 she was unwell, and hence, underwent various tests. She tested negative for dengue and malaria but continued to feel unwell. Later, her parents took her to hospital and it was found that she was pregnant.
The child then told her mother of her ordeal. Referring to the accused as ‘uncle’, she told the court that on September 18, 2016, he offered her coffee which made her giddy after which he raped her and warned her to keep mum.
She said he raped her again on September 21, 2016, after offering juice which made her pass out. He later threatened to post her pictures and videos online if she told her mother.
She underwent an abortion in January 2017.
