Maybe It Was Wrong To Reject Pakistan And Join India: Mehbooba Mufti
Mumbai: Coming down strongly on the Narendra Modi-led government on the removal of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti said, “Today people of J&K are forced to think that maybe the decision of our leaders to reject Pakistan and join India wasn’t right.”
“Like thieves, they took away everything that the Parliament had given to the people of J&K,” added Mufti.
Earlier, soon after Amit Shah moved a resolution that Article 370 will not be applicable to Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti tweeted that the government’s unilateral decision “to scrap Article 370” was illegal and unconstitutional.

Saying that India had betrayed the people of Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti said, “We trusted the government and united with India but they have broken our trust. People are now wondering if they are not joining Pakistan.” They made a mistake. ”
“India is such a big country but scared of a small Muslim-majority state. Why was the decision taken by creating fear of a situation?” Mehbooba Mufti said.

“It will have catastrophic consequences for the subcontinent. GOIs intentions are clear. They want the territory of J&K by terrorising its people. India has failed Kashmir in keeping its promises,” she tweeted.

“People like us who placed faith in Parliament, the temple of democracy have been deceived. Those elements in J&K who rejected the constitution and sought resolution under the UN have been vindicated. This will exacerbate the alienation Kashmiris feel,” Mufti had tweeted.
