Ministry Of Ayush Stops Patanjali From Advertising ‘Coronil’, Asks For Composition, Research Data

Mumbai: Hour’s after Baba Ramdev claimed to find a cure for COVID19 and launched its medicine ‘Coronil’, the Ministry of Ayush has asked Patanjali Yogpeeth to provide details about the medicine’s composition and research which company conducted before launching the product.

“Patanjali Ayurved Ltd has been asked to provide at the earliest details of the name and composition of the medicines being claimed for COVID treatment; site(s)/hospital(s), where the research study was conducted for COVID-19; protocol, sample size, Institutional Ethics Committee clearance, CTRI registration and results in data of the study (ies) and stop advertising/publicizing such claims till the issue is duly examined,” the Ministry of AYUSH said in a press release.

Ayush Ministry also asked the government of Uttrakhand to provide a copy of license and approval details given for the manufacture of Coronil.

“Ministry has also requested concerned State Licensing Authority of Uttrakhand Government to provide copies of license and product approval details of the Ayurvedic medicines being claimed for the treatment of COVID -19,” the release further stated.

Distancing themselves from the following, Ayush ministry said in the statement the facts of the claim and details of the stated scientific study are not known to them.

Recently Glenmark Pharmaceuticals had launched ‘Favipiravir’ for treatment of mild to moderate COVID19 patients.
