MNS Student Body Chief Aditya Shirodkar Joins Shiv Sena Ahead Of 2022 BMC Polls

Mumbai: In a setback for the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), its general secretary Aditya Shirodkar joined Shiv Sena on Friday in the presence of Sena chief and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya.

He was heading the student’s wing of MNS and had also contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai on an MNS ticket.

The Shiv Sena party feels that by inducting Aditya Shirodkar, the party will have the advantage of reaching out to more students who will become first-time voters in the BMC elections.

Shirodkar was part of the Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena and the Shiv Udyog Sena. He was very active in MNS. Raj Thackeray had appointed him as the head of the student wing of his party.

Aditya Shirodkar and his father Rajan Shirodkar were considered very close to MNS chief Raj Thackeray. After the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi formed the government in the state, Raj Thackeray announced a shadow cabinet to take control of the government.

Reacting to this story, MNS students’ wing vice president Akhil Chitre said, “From 2016, Aditya Shirodkar was not active. Our students’ wing was active as we used to get guidance from Amit Thackeray. Aditya Shirodkar leaving MNS won’t have any impact on our party as I said he was inactive from 2016 only.”
