Mumbai Businessman Cheated Of ₹65,000 While Trying To Order Pizza Online

Mumbai: A 59-year-old businessman in Mumbai’s Khar was allegedly cheated of ₹65,000 when he tried to order pizza online.

The fraudster cheated by posing as the manager of a pizza shop and cheated Rs 65,000.

Fortunately, soon after the transaction took place, the merchant’s credit card company, which was tracking his transactions, contacted him and asked him to go to the local police station after the incident.

After this, an FIR has been lodged in Khar police station and efforts are being made to recover the amount.

The shocking incident happened when the man tried to order pizza online and searched it on Google. He learned the names of the Francisco pizza places and called them to place his order. At the same time, the fraudster said that soon a call will come from another number.

In no time, he got a call from another cyber crook, who posed as the pizza shop manager and asked him to pay in advance.

The scammer had also sent him a link for payment. Unaware of their evil intentions, the man filled in all his details and even shared his OTP to place the order.

As soon as he shared the OTP with them, Rs 20,000 was debited from his account. He also questioned the fraudster that a huge amount was deducted from his account for just one pizza.

However, to withdraw more money, the fraudster said that it was done by mistake and asked for another OTP to return the money. He again suffered a loss of Rs 20,000 and was given the same excuse. This trick was followed almost twice where he suffered a total loss of Rs 65,000.

When something went wrong, his credit card company called him to check if he had made these transactions. As soon as he refused these payments, he was asked to file a complaint with the police station. After this, an FIR is being registered and efforts are being made to nab the accused as soon as possible.
