Mumbai Mayor Directs BMC To Repair All Potholes In City Within 10 Days

Mumbai: Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, while criticising the civic administration over delay in repair work of potholes, directed concerned officials to finish all repair works within 10 days.

Pednekar on Monday took stock of the condition of roads in Jarimari in Kurla and Subhash Nagar in Chembur.

The BMC has been widely criticized by residents and opposition councillors for its dangerous roads and potholes.

The mayor said that all the potholes should be fixed as soon as possible. “It is very serious as the potholes on the roads have not been repaired even after Ganeshotsav. No other work should be assigned to the engineers appointed to repair the road and fill the potholes.”

According to the BMC’s pothole monitoring system, till September 27, there were only 942 potholes in the entire city. Out of 942, the civil administration claimed to have restored 439 potholes. However, residents and activists have accused the company of underestimating the number of potholes.

“I have instructed the deputy municipal commissioner to submit a report on whether road engineers are diverted to do some other work which is impacting the pothole filling work,” stated Pednkar.
