Mumbai: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said on Monday that at least 22 militants, including 6 top commanders, had been killed in nine separate operations in the past two weeks.

He said that nine Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants were killed in Shopian in the last two days. Four militants were killed in an encounter that took place on Monday morning.

Addressing a press conference here, Singh said, “In the last two weeks, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have been carrying out a campaign against terrorists. In the last two days, nine Hizbul Mujahideen militants have been killed. Three of them were top commanders. Several cases were registered against those killing innocent civilians, attacks on police, and security forces.”

“In Awantipora, a vigilante police team arrested people who were preparing new boys to join the insurgency.
