Naval Officer Dies As Fire Breaks Out At INS Vikramaditya

Mumbai: A fire aboard the INS Vikramaditya killed a lieutenant commander. The Indian Navy issued a statement in which it was written, “Lt Cdr DS Chauhan led the brave leadership of fire fighting efforts in the affected compartment.”

It has been further stated in the statement that the fire was brought under control by the crew of the ship, which did not cause any serious damage to the combat capability of the ship. It further said that Lieutenant Commander Chauhan lost consciousness due to smoke and smoke during fire fighting efforts. He was immediately taken to Karwar Naval Hospital but could not be resurrected.

INS Vikramaditya, which was commissioned in Sevmash Shipyard of Severodvinsk, North Russia in November 2013 in the Indian Navy, it is based on its home port in Karwar in Karnataka.

The carrier is 284 meters long and 60 meters high. The ship’s weight is 40,000 tons and it is the largest and heaviest ship of the Indian Navy.
