Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Wife Navjot Kaur Quits Congress

Mumbai: Navjot Kaur, wife of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, quit the Congress party on Tuesday after she was allegedly denied ticket in this year’s Lok Sabha elections.

Kaur, a former BJP MLA from Amritsar (East) and former Chief Parliamentary Secretary, was allegedly denied ticket from Chandigarh Parliamentary seat in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, Kaur alleged that he was not offered the Lok Sabha ticket from Chandigarh seat due to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and state general secretary Asha Kumari.

Sidhu also backed his wife’s claim that she would “never lie”. Asked about his wife’s allegations during a press conference in May, Sidhu said that my wife has so much strength and moral authority that she will never lie. This is my answer.

The Chief Minister, however, denied the allegation that he was offered a Congress ticket from Amritsar or Bathinda seat but refused. Singh had also said that he had no role in denying Kaur a ticket from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat, adding that the ticket allocation was done by the Congress high command in Delhi.

Kaur had joined the Congress party in 2016 after quitting the BJP.
