Mumbai: On Thursday, Lav Aggarwal, joint secretary in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that about 20 percent of COVID-19 patients in the country have been cured so far, while the total number of cases of coronovirus has increased to 21,393.

Addressing a press conference here, Aggarwal said: “With 1,409 new cases, there are now 21,393 positives in India. So far 4,257 people have been recovered, including 388 who were recovered yesterday. This takes our recovery percentage to 19.89 percent.”

In the last 14 days, no new cases of novel coronavirus disease have been reported from 78 districts.

“As of today, we have 12 districts that have not had a fresh case in the last 28 days or more. Health Ministry Joint Secretary Love Aggarwal said that there are now 78 districts (23 states/union territories) that have not registered any fresh cases during the last 14 days.

Dr. Balaram Bhargava, Director General, ICMR stated that India has been able to reduce the growth of the Covid-19 epidemic as positive cases remain at 4.5% (in all trials), indicating that the transmission rate is linear.

“It is very difficult to tell if the peak will come by May 3 or when it will come. But it is very stable. The positivity rate has been 4.5%, one could say that we have been able to level the curve. However, difficult. Predict it (Shikhar), ”said Dr. Bhargava.

Comparing the rate of transmission of the disease in India with other counties, Mishra said that India was the least affected country in the epidemic.

Bhargava of ICMR said the government’s philosophy has been “more laboratory, more testing, more resources”. In about 100 labs at the beginning of the lockdown, we have 325 labs to test, he said.
