Night Curfew From 6 pm To 6 am To Be Imposed In Pune From April 3

Mumbai: A day after the city registered more than 8,000 cases for the second consecutive day, the Pune administration has decided to take a lockout-like measure in the region for the next 7 days in view of the dreaded coronavirus situation.

“Bars, hotels, restaurants will be closed for 7 days, only home delivery will be allowed. No public function is permitted except for funerals and weddings. A maximum of 20 people will be allowed at the funeral and 50 for weddings. The new order will come into effect from tomorrow,” Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao said.

Apart from this, a 12-hour curfew will also be imposed in Pune from 6 o’clock in the evening to 6 o’clock in the morning. This situation will be reviewed next Friday.

The commissioner of the Pune division said, “The religious places will remain completely closed for the next 7 days.”

The Pune district on Thursday reported 8,011 new Kovid-19 cases, bringing its cumulative count to 5,42,422. The district on Wednesday reported 8,605 new infections, the biggest single-day spike for Pune since the epidemic began last year.

The fatalities in Pune reached 10,039 when 65 more people succumbed to the infection.

A health official said, “Out of the total number of new cases, 4,103 were obtained from areas located within the Pune Municipal Corporation limits, where caseload has been increased to 2,73,446.”

2,113 fresh cases have been reported in Pune’s neighbouring industrial colony Pimpri Chinchwad, pushing its casinos to 1,42,251.
