Nitish Kumar unveils statue of Arun Jaitley in Patna

Mumbai: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday unveiled a statue of former Union Minister Arun Jaitley in Patna on his birth anniversary. Arun Jaitley’s family and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi were also present at the event.

Nitish Kumar also paid tributes to the late Union Minister on the occasion.

Earlier this year, in August, Nitish Kumar announced that a statue of the former finance minister would be installed in the state. He also said that Jaitley’s birth anniversary will be celebrated every year as a state function.

Jaitley died on 24 August this year at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. He was 66. He was cremated with full state honours on 25 August at Nigambodh Ghat in the national capital.

Jaitley served as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Government of India from 2014 to 2019.

Jaitley previously held the cabinet portfolios of Finance, Defence, Corporate Affairs, Commerce and Industry, and Law and Justice in the Vajpayee government and Narendra Modi government.
