No Verdict On Gyanvapi Mosque Case Today, Muslim Petitioners To Be Heard On May 26

Mumbai: The Varanasi district court, hearing the arguments on a civil suit on the Gyanvapi mosque-Kashi Viswanath temple complex dispute, on Tuesday said it will hear the Muslim side that has sought to reject Hindus’ civil suit seeking claim on the mosque.

The objections to the commission’s report would have to file within seven days by both parties.

A day earlier, the court had reserved its order after hearing the arguments in the case. District Court Judge AK Vishvesh completed the arguments of both the Hindu and Muslim sides.

The four Hindu petitioners were present in the court. Advocate Vishu Jain, representing the Hindu petitioners, who have sought the right to worship inside the mosque on claims of the presence of a Shivling there, said the court will hear the application of the Muslim side on May 26 to see if the matter is ongoing.

Jain said, “The hearing on the Muslim side’s application under Order 7 Rule 11 regarding the rejection of suit will take place on May 26. The court asked both sides to file an objection to the commission report, and submit the report within one week.”

The court said that the order of May 19 inviting objections from both sides by the Civil Judge (Senior Division) is still in effect, objections are invited from both sides on the report of the Advocates Commission.
