Mumbai: The Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Ashutosh Dwivedi has drawn an order considering strict charges on people who have not installed Aarogya Setu App on their smartphones.

“If smartphone users do not have Aarogya Setu App installed on their phones, while out in a public place, then this will be a punishable offence for the violation of lockdown norms”, says Ashutosh.

Earlier, some security issues in the app was reported following which, Congress Chief, Rahul Gandhi called it a ‘sophisticated surveillance system’.

“The Arogya Setu app, is a sophisticated surveillance system, outsourced to a pvt operator, with no institutional oversight – raising serious data security & privacy concerns. Technology can help keep us safe; but fear must not be leveraged to track citizens without their consent”, tweeted Gandhi

However, a report was established by the app owners through twitter denying any privacy breach.

“No personal information of any user has been proved to be at risk by this ethical hacker. We are continuously testing and upgrading our systems. Team Aarogya Setu assures everyone that no data or security breach has been identified.”
