Not Quitting BJP: Pankaja Munde

Mumbai: The suspense over Pankaja Munde’s next move has increased after the BJP leader removed the party name from her Twitter bio Monday. On Monday, Ms Munde removed all details from her Twitter bio, including the word “BJP” and the description of her political journey.

This was since Sunday when Pankaja Munde wrote a Facebook post on her “future journey” in view of changed political circumstances in Maharashtra where the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress came together to form a government.

While speaking with the reporters she said, ” I am not leaving the party. Defection is not in my blood.”

She also denied the act of removing “BJP” from her twitter bio was aimed at putting pressure on her party. This was just a rumour she said.

On Tuesday, Pankaja met senior BJP leaders Vinod Tawde, Ram Shinde and MLA Babanrao Lonikar at her residence in Malabar Hill in south Mumbai.

“Her Facebook post on Sunday was distorted by the opponents; hence she was deeply hurt. She herself informed me that she is not unhappy with the party,” Tawde said.

Incidentally, in her recent tweets, she also congratulated new chief minister Uddhav Thackeray. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut further raised speculation by claiming that many leaders are keen on joining the Uddhav Thackeray-led party.

The About’ section of her Facebook account also mentioned BJP as her political affiliation.

“Looking at the changed political scenario in the state, there is a need to think and decide the way ahead. I need time for some 8-10 days to communicate with myself. Our future journey needs to be decided against the backdrop of current political changes,” she wrote in her Facebook post in Marathi.

Pankaja had lost the elections of the Parli in Beed district against his brother Gopinath Munde. She said that after her defeat, she got several calls and messages from her supporters asking for a meeting but due to the political situation, she could not speak to them.
